Divine Light ️🕌🏛 • Probably one of the most incredible buildings ever built, the Hagia Sofia. It’s nearly 1,500 years old. It’s dome almost feels suspended. It means so much to so many people. As one tourist said to me “this is heaven on earth”. • I reflected this shot because despite going to 3 times in 5 years the building still has major renovation works going on, which means one side is full of scaffolding. Hopefully when I’m back I’ll be able to capture this building properly in all its glory. •

Nothing compares to the work of the great chief Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan. With that, I've started a new project to visit every structure he's ever made. This is the Suleymaniye Masjid, arguably his masterpiece. I absolutely love the energy of this place. The gentlemen sitting there is a scholar, I didn't want to do what I normally do (shoot then ask if necessary) and asked him if I could take a picture. He smiled, gave me a faint nod and continued with his prayers. •

You Can't Sit With Us • SATWA PROJECT COMPLETE • I've been a neighbor of Satwa for over 6 years. A thin stretch of road divides fancy skyscrapers and this old neighborhood. It's literally like walking from one world to another in a matter of seconds. When I started seeing the bulldozers roll in, I started documenting the area and have been for over 2 years. Now those houses I used to visit are all but gone, I'm guessing some kind of fancy mall will come up soon enough. I see this happening all over the city – my goal this year is to document these places. It'll be interesting looking back at them years from now.

T H E A R T I S A N S 🏼‍ • It's the artisan community that impressed me the most in Morocco, especially in Marrakesh. Extremely talented, skilled, and holding onto centuries of traditions. There are so many that it's almost ordinary to see them, but just watch them for a while and you'll be in awe. And then be prepared to buy something because they are great salesmen too 🙂 •
